A | NEW YORK -- Paddy Cosgrave, the chief executive officer of a prominent European tech conference called Web Summit, resigned from his role on Saturday amid backlash for his public statements that suggested Israel was committing war crimes.A spokesperson for Web Summit, which organizes one of the world's largest tech conferences every year, said in an e-mailed statement sent to The Associated Press that it will appoint a new CEO, and the conference will go ahead next month in Lisbon as planned. Cosgrave posted on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, on Oct. 13 that he was “shocked at the rhetoric and actions of so many Western leaders & governments, with the exception in particular of Ireland’s government, who for once are doing the right thing. ”“War crimes are war crimes even when committed by allies, and should be called out for what they are,” he added.Two days later, he updated his tweet calling “what Hamas did is outrageous and disgusting” but adding, "Israel has a right to defend itself, but it does not, as I have already stated, have a right to break international law." Need some time off this platform.”______Follow Anne D’Innocenzio: http://twitter.com/ADInnocenzio。 노조 “공사 중단되며 피해 전가…밀린 임금 4억1800만 원 달해” 부산의 한 복합문화시설 시행사에서 4억 원이 넘는 임금체불이 발생했다는 주장이 제기됐다. 노동계는 근로계약서를 작성하지 않은 채 임금을 상습적으로 체불했다며 해당 업체 회장에 대한 구속 수사와 엄중 처벌을 촉구했다.전국민주일반노동조합 부산본부는 26일 오전 고용노동부 부산동부지청 앞에서 기자회견(사진)을 열고 아트하랑 회장을 규탄했다. 아트하랑은 부산 기장군 오시리아 관광단지에 조성되는 복합문화시설 ‘쇼플렉스’의 시행사다.노조는 아트하랑이 경영난에 빠지면서 쇼플렉스 공사가 중단됐고 이에 따른 피해가 노동자에게 돌아갔다고 언급했다. 직원들이 급여를 정기적으로 받지 못했으며 문제를 제기한 일부 직원은 대기발령 조치도 받았다고 주장했다. 노조가 파악한 조합원 4명의 체불임금은 약 4억1800만 원으로, 개인별 체불액은 최대 1억5680만 원에 달한다.퇴사자 4명의 임금체불 사건 선고는 오는 27일 부산지법에서 이뤄질 예정이다. 노조는 아트하랑 회장이 법정구속을 피하려 실제 체불액의 50~60%만 형사공탁했다며 재판을 앞둔 면피성 조치라고 비판했다.사측의 대응 방식도 도마에 올랐다. 노조 측은 사측이 임금 지급은 미루면서 임금체불 소송과 노조 교섭에 대응하기 위해 회사 자금으로 변호사와 노무사를 선임했다고 지적했다. 근로계약서 미작성과 4대 보험 미가입 등 노동관계법 위반 의혹에 대한 철저한 조사도 요구했다. 이들은 “임금은 회사 사정이 어려우면 나중에 줘도 되는 돈이 아니다. 노동자가 자신의 노동으로 정당하게 받아야 할 생존권이자 법적으로 보장된 권리”라며 “부산동부지청은 회장을 즉각 구속 수사하고 아트하랑은 체불임금을 전액 지급해야 한다”고 밝혔다.。
